2019 SCARTS Throwback Series - Race 8 - Mar 28th @ 22 GMT

PostThu Jan 03, 2019 4:04 pm

Image Image

The SCARTS Throwback Series kicks off on Wednesday, January 9th paying homage to our past with former racetracks and old versions of tracks we once ran - coming back for an eight race mini-series. Paint schemes from the past will also be available by request for each player to add more throwback flare. The TC2018 car setup will be the base setup for this series so additional drivers can have a car to use in the races or if no paint schemes are requested. The series is open to everyone and is a good developmental series for those looking to run more regularly in the main Turbocharged Cup Series in 2019.

Daytona will kick of the Throwback Series - the original version of the track we ran before Turbo Sliders increased the map size to 2000x2000 pixels. Delux is the most recent winner on this version of Daytona, sweeping the two events in 2014. The 2012 SCARTS Daytona 500 is the influence for how the track is going to be set up, which you can watch on Shyguy's SlidersTV channel. The racing will feature some draft effect, but will be run more like the racing from that era.

Come join us on Wednesday and be sure to request any paint schemes you want to run! See you there!

Shyguy visits Victory Lane at the Old Daytona kicking off the SCARTS Throwback Series season. Laf finished a strong 2nd place with Dore completing the Top 3. Our next track was last run during the 2015 SCARTS season, Brands Hatch.

Delux is the most recent Cup winner at Brands Hatch, however, Dillon won the Road Course Series event held there as well that year which was run in the opposite direction. We will run the standard clockwise direction for this race. This is the first of three road courses during this mini-season.

Hope to see you there!

RACE #2 @ BRANDS HATCH

When: Wednesday, January 16th @ 22 GMT
Race Length: 90 laps
Most Recent Winner: Delux (2015)

Nearly four years later, Delux visits Victory Lane once again at Brands Hatch after a dominating caution-free performance at the road course. He had to fend off multiple attacks from Burnout over the last 15-20 laps and was able to prevail. The win vaults Delux up the standings, now only two points behind Shyguy for the championship lead.

Next, SCARTS heads back to Dover for the first time since the 2016 season. Dover has been a staple track of our league for many seasons and we will revisit it for Race #3 of the SCARTS Throwback Series.

Dore is the latest winner at Dover from 2016 - can he find Victory Lane again?

Join us on Wednesday!

RACE #3 @ DOVER
============
When: Wednesday, January 23rd @ 22 GMT
Race Length: 250 laps
Most Recent Winner: Dore (2016)

Dore wins at Dover for his first win of the SCARTS Throwback Series season. His 35 point run shoots him right to the top of the points standings heading into our next race at Pocono.

The original version of Pocono was created back in Season 1 of SCARTS and has been run in most seasons up until 2016. The track was rebuilt in 2017 and is now the version we run in the main Turbocharged Cup Series. Jurgen is the most recent winner on the former configuration.

Who will go to Victory Lane at the original Tricky Triangle? Find out this coming week!

RACE #4 @ POCONO

When: Wed. January 30th @ 22 GMT
Race Length: 200 laps
Most Recent Winner: Jurgen

Burnout scores his first win of the SCARTS Throwback Series at the old Pocono Raceway, putting him right in contention for the championship along with Dore. It's basically all square between him and Dore with four races left!

Next up is a road course that was run only once in SCARTS - the Autódromo Internacional de Curitiba in Brazil. We had a great event there during our SCARTS Road Course Series in 2015 and we decided to bring it back for a throwback race. Delux is the winner from that race.

Come join us for some road racing this coming week!

RACE #5 @ CURITIBA

When: Thursday, February 7th @ 22 GMT
Race Length: 82 laps
2015 RC Winner: Delux

Our 2017 SCARTS Turbocharged Cup Series champion, Szymek, finds Victory Lane for the first time since his title winning at the Curitiba road course. He dominated the event despite a hard charging Burnout closing in during the final laps. The margin of victory ended up being our closest of the season, 0.169 seconds!

Next up is a throwback to a classic SCARTS track - Michigan Int'l Speedway. Burnout holds a modest 3-point lead over Dore going into the final race worth full points before the drop races begin. Burnout is the most recent Michigan winner from 2014.

The race will be Wednesday, February 13th. See you there!

Burnout becomes the first repeat winner of the SCARTS Throwback Series after a hard, uphill battle to catch Dore during the final fuel run at Michigan. Dore had dominated most of the race leading over half of the laps which allowed him to lose only one point despite Burnout winning the race.

Next up is Sonoma Raceway, our final road course race of the Throwback Series cup. This race and the finale at the old Indianapolis will be drop races for Burnout, Dore and Laf. Laf will not be able to score enough points from his drops to contend for the title, however Delux back in fourth place who started one less race, could still advance to the Indy final should he have a dominating run at Sonoma but that'll depend on Burnout and Dore's point totals from the race.

Burnout has a 21 and a 25 point race to drop while Dore has two 22 point races to drop. It's basically still any man's race between those two, but could Delux spoil the party with a big win and a nice drop at Indy?

Come join us for Sonoma on Wednesday! Jurgen is the most recent winner in the truck series race of 2016.

RACE #7 @ SONOMA

One race remains in the SCARTS Throwback Series! Szymek scored his second win of the season winning at Sonoma Raceway! Unfortunately, it's down to only Burnout and Dore for the title.

Burnout gained six points at Sonoma and now holds a 10 point lead over Dore. Burnout has a 25 point race to drop while Dore has a 22 point race to drop going into the Indy finale. This means that Dore must win and score 33 or more points in the finale to have a shot at the championship. It'll be a matter of limiting laps led for Burnout. Burnout holds the tiebreaker if Dore only manages 32 points.

Shyguy is the most recent victor at the old version of Indianapolis! Should he compete, can he bookend the season?

Come join us this coming week for the finale!
